Symposium on Big Data Algorithms for Biology 2025
AXIS BANK CENTRE FOR MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTING
Symposium on Big Data Algorithms for Biology 2025
AXIS BANK CENTRE FOR MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTING
The third annual BDBio symposium will be held in the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore from May 29 to May 31, 2025. This event will feature cutting-edge research in the areas of bioinformatics, computational biology, and systems biology. The program will include invited research talks from leading scientists in academia and industry, early-career talks, poster session, and a pre-symposium workshop. The topics include novel computational, algorithmic, statistical, and deep learning methods in applications related to:
Molecular sequence analysis
RNA sequencing analysis, including single-cell
Comparative and population genomics
Cancer and infectious disease
Computational systems biology
Biological networks
Metagenomics
Computational proteomics, metabolomics and pharmacogenomics
Multi-omics data integration

The symposium will include a poster session and talks from early career researchers (Ph.D. students/Postdocs). Exceptional Master's and UG students will also be selected. This is an excellent opportunity to get feedback from peers. Those who wish to present their work at the symposium should submit an abstract while filling the registration form.
Hands-on training on the topic Genomic large language models is being offered on the first day of the symposium, May 29 (9:00 am - 6:30 pm). This workshop is intended to give participants an introduction to the theory of large language models and a flavour of how LLMs are used in biology generally, and in genomics specifically. The workshop is intended for participants with some basic experience with coding in Python and machine learning/statistics. Reading material for participants will be given in advance; participants are expected to work through these in advance of the workshop.
Participation is limited to 40 students. The option to register for the workshop will be available in the BDBio registration form.
